Every body deserves art, no matter the size or tone.
Below are some examples of tattoos I’ve done on melanated skin tones, ranging from 3-5 on the Fitzpatrick scale or 6-9 on the Monk scale. I have done extensive research on tattoos in relation to darker skin tones and have a very good sense of color theory from years of fine art study.
I continue to study not only how to mindfully design for every client, but also how to make sure my photos convey true color and tones. This is something I know I have more work to do on, but it is a priority.
For me, tattooing should always complement the body, and that goes beyond just placement. It includes taking into account the existing tones and shades to make a design that looks beautiful and legible no matter the amount of melanin present.
